Community Engagement: Symposium

Introduced in 2008, the Clean & Green Symposium is a one-day educational and networking mini-conference that shares information and methods to improve environmental and economic quality of life for a more vibrant, attractive and sustainable community. Featuring nationally renowned experts, the symposium offers insights and real-world solutions on key threshold issues, including:

  • Community improvement
  • Community development and planning
  • Environmental courts
  • Law enforcement
  • Litter prevention
  • Scenic beautification
  • Waste management and recycling
At the inaugural symposium, then-President Bush commended Carl Garner of Tumbling Shoals, a founding director of the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Foundation, with the President’s Volunteer Service Award honoring his lifelong advocacy for a litter-free Arkansas. Matt McKenna, president of Keep America Beautiful, presented the commendation.
